Lithium-battery-charging

Fire investigators believe a Lithium-Ion battery was the cause of a fire that tragically claimed the lives of two Teralba residents. When a Lithium-Ion battery is compromised, ‘Thermal Runaway’ can occur, a process where a Lithium-Ion cell overheats and gives off toxic gases before exploding in flames. These fires are extremely intense and volatile, and like all fire, it moves incredibly fast.

With a significant rise in fires caused by Lithium-Ion batteries, we are urging our community to familiarize themselves with, and follow our Lithium-Ion battery safety advice: https://fire.nsw.gov.au/chargesafe Our thoughts are with the family and friends affected by this devastating loss, and with the Teralba community.
